In Genesis 1:28 God commands humans to “be fruitful and increase in numbers; fill the earth and subdue it.” Even though he also establishes us as rulers over the animals, it is imperative we don’t take our place of authority and exploit it. We are to use our power wisely remembering that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it (Psalm24:1).
Being God’s stewards means we are caretakers of the earth who answer to hm. We also understand we cant take our possessions or assets with us so we are to use the earths resources wisely not waste the resources given to sustain us. In a practical sense we need to look at our daily life and make choices with discernment. We don’t have to be zero waste but if we have a recycling bin lets use it.
All of the Earths wonders are to bring Glory to its creator: The morning sunrise, the crystal blue waters of the ocean, the beautiful lush rain forests. Above all it is about protecting what has been given to us to take care of, be sensible and do what we can to make a difference to eliminate waste and excess. Living sustainably allows us to draw a little closer to God and to preserve nature for the generations that follow.
